Tampa Bay Fishing Report: April 2025

April 6, 2025

Tampa Bay is getting HOT!!!

After a busy stretch of spring break charters, we finally had a day to hit the water just for fun—and Tampa Bay didn’t disappoint.

The bite has been hot. We’ve been getting smacked cast after cast, with redfish and snook rolling on bait like it’s summer already. On this particular trip, we were bouncing around the mangroves, tossing baits under bushes, and just enjoying a day without the pressure. And let me tell you—when you hit the right spot, you know it.

Redfish, Snook &... Catfish?

Jake stuck a solid red early on—a good-looking fish that thumped the cork hard and gave us a good fight. Not long after, we doubled up… on catfish. Yeah, it happens. Not the most glamorous part of the day, but we couldn’t help but laugh. That’s fishing.

We also had a few snook chase down baits, roll on top, and swipe short. You could literally see the boils and fish following, which always gets the adrenaline pumping. We managed to land a few solid ones and lose a couple more—standard snook business. One even spit the hook right at the boat just to keep us humble.

What’s Going On Right Now in Tampa Bay

So here’s the real update: Tarpon are starting to show up, which is absolutely our favorite time of year. If you’ve been waiting to chase the Silver King, it’s time to get on the calendar.

We also had plans to run nearshore for kingfish, and our buddies who went out absolutely crushed it. Kingfish are here, but with a bit of wind coming over the next few days, that bite might be hit-or-miss unless the weather settles down.

And let’s not forget trout—we didn’t target them this trip, but we’ve been catching big ones lately. The inshore bite overall is just strong right now.

Want In On The Action?

This is one of the best times of year to fish Tampa Bay. The weather’s warm, the water’s alive, and the fish are chewing. Whether you're looking to fish inshore for reds and snook, chase tarpon, or run nearshore for kingfish, we’ve got you covered.
